Usually not — the provider configures everything. But when one protocol's nodes all degrade, hopping to another protocol often fixes things instantly; during heavy interference, Hysteria2 and Reality nodes tend to survive best.

Client requirement

These protocols require the Clash Meta (mihomo) core. The original Clash core cannot parse VLESS or Hysteria2 at all — exactly why you should use the clients from this site.
