VLESS + Reality in Plain Words: a New Anti-Censorship Design

Classic TLS camouflage needs your own domain and certificate. Reality skips all that: it borrows the TLS handshake of a real, well-known website, so an observer sees what looks exactly like a normal visit to that site. It is currently one of the strongest anti-censorship designs.

How it works, roughly

During the handshake the server presents the borrowed site's exterior. Only a client holding the right key completes the hidden proxy negotiation; an active prober connecting to the server simply receives the genuine target website, leaving nothing to accuse.

What it means for you

• No certificate or domain cost, so providers deploy it widely — Reality nodes are everywhere now
• High survival rate during censorship spikes — a solid safety-net line
• Native in mihomo: every client on this site handles it out of the box

One caveat

Resistance is not speed — bandwidth still depends on the physical route. Pair Reality nodes with Hysteria2 nodes to cover both stability and throughput.
