Subscription Update Failing? Five Common Causes and Fixes

Troubleshooting

Everyone hits a failed subscription update eventually. The cause is almost always one of five things — check them in order.

The checklist

  1. No local connectivity: can the browser open a normal site at all?
  2. Subscription domain blocked: connect through any working node first, then update (choose update-via-proxy)
  3. Plan expired: log in to the provider and check status and remaining traffic
  4. Link rotated: providers sometimes reset subscription URLs — copy the new one and re-import
  5. Provider outage: wait, or contact support

Prevention

Update succeeds but nodes are dead

If the update works yet every node times out, the provider is likely maintaining servers or the protocol is being interfered with locally — try nodes on another protocol or wait a little.
